Is anyone else out there having problems with running the Steam downloaded version on your PC? I'm having random errors that exit me out of the game, and of course that means that I'm having to redo some of the harder, I'm way out matched, but I was actually winning at the time, battles.

You know I really haven't played Galactrix at all since I did the review. I guess in a way I saw that I was done with the review so why should I keep putting myself through the pain of the random crashes, not to mention the fact that I pissed off a ton of the sectors and had an encounter whenever I moved through those zones.

I'm guessing from the amount of views that people do have issues like I'm having. I'm wondering what OS you guys are running, I'm running Vista, and it comes up with these blank generic errors as to why it shut down

Found this on another forum, maybe this will help some people.

Thank you for writing to us about the game Puzzle Quest: Galactrix for the PC. After reading your email, it seems that you are experiencing slowdown and/or crashes while playing the game. Currently, we are looking into solutions to fix the slowdown and crash issues that you are experiencing. We will immediately let you know when we figure out a solution to these issues so that you can continue to enjoy Puzzle Quest: Galactrix!

In the meantime, you may want to try this:

If using Windows XP, you will need a program that can unzip files. We recommend WinRAR or Winzip, but any number of programs will work for this.

1) Navigate to your Galactrix installation directory (default is C:\Program Files\Puzzle Quest Galactrix)

2) Unzip Assets.zip (usually done by right clicking the file and clicking Extract)

3) Two things may have happened. You may have folders in the directory called Assets, English, Spanish, French, German, and other languages. If this is the case, skip to Step 5.

4) Go into the Assets directory. Move all these folders to the Galactrix Directory (Move, not copy. Allow the PC to overwrite the Assets Directory).

5) Click the Assets.zip file.

6) Press CTRL+C and then CTRL+V to make a copy of the file. (This makes a back up of Assets.zip, just in case)

7) Move the Assets.zip file to any non-Galactrix directory (c:\temp is a common directory and easy to remember, but any directory works for this purpose. The desktop will also work well.)

8) Start up Galactrix as normal.

9) If the game does not start, make sure that the Galactrix directory has the Assets, English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish directories, and that these directories have files in them. Make sure that the Assets.zip file is not in the Galactrix directory or any subdirectory.

Hopefully this will take care of the slowdown and crashing issues. But if it doesn't, please be patient with us. We care about our gamers and will do what we can to provide the best possible gaming experience. I hope this information is helpful! Thanks again for taking the time to write to us!
