I just read the article on Kotaku which discussed one of the writer's experiences into the MMO world, and how he got caught by Evercrack. That left me thinking about the fact that I've never really experienced that. Sure I've been sucked into a game here or there where I have to finish it, but that's the thing they can be finished, and when I complete it I'm able to see the light at the other end and go about my day.
I've never allowed myself to be completely sucked in like that when it comes to an MMO. Sure I've had my all day gaming sessions, but then I return to life as normal. Part of me wonders what it would be like to remove that restraint and delve in, but then there's another part of me that fears that if I remove that restraint I won't be able to put it back.
I've played WoW, LotRO, Guild Wars, Final Fantasy XI, and dozens more, and yet somehow I've been able to dodge the addiction. I'm curious how others have battled the addiction.
