Forums => Rants > The German says something else:
I am a huge fan of GameFly, and that's how I've gotten so many games up there for reviewing. I feel completely out of place walking into a Blockbuster for anything. I feel like I'm going to get kicked in the balls for some strange late fee that happened eons ago, or they're going to give me a movie that I'm going to end up trying to watch to discover some jackass with a lighter decided to play with.
Brick and Mortar stores are starting to phase out, Circuit City was the first to bite the bullet, and I have a funny feeling that Best Buy might be starting to feel the squeeze as well. The only reason why BlockBuster sticks around is that there are those out there that are scared to death of the internet, and so they don't know how to use NetFlix.
So in closing, be kind to your elders, help them out, show them how easy it is to rent from NetFlix. You can also tell them it saves gas.
Bockbuster? Phhhhhhhhhhhhht. I've used Netflix for years...got my started on my favorite shows like ncis, house, and the office.
Gamefly does sound like a nifty idea, but my problem is I'll play a game for a week, take a month off, and pick it up again. I am a very fickle gamer.

So what is up with Blockbuster?!?!
Is anyone really still going there. Getting in your cars and trucks and for those unfortunate "victims of the LAW" Mopeds, speeding off to your local B-Buster. Staffed with nothing but the finest High School has to offer and those it rejected?
Getting service from and questions answered by Emo-John and Suicidehappy-Kate (characters are fictional and any real life likeness is complete coincidence but should hopefully spur you on to evaluate your life) is not how The German has chosen to rent his games.
Ever since last night I am a member of not only the illustrious Altered Confusion, but also the little known site of Gamefly.com.
The German is all about the name drop and there you have it. Debit card and shipping address in hand I head off into a magical virtual shopping bonanza!! Add to Q.........Add to Q..........Add to Q............ADD TO Q!!!!!! Sweet!
Now patiently awaiting my selections is the hardest part of the Gamefly experience. But enough about the site, let's talk about why I went with a monthly fee rent all you want keep it as long you'd like site.
Put simply, it is all about getting to play those games I find myself being curious about but cannot see myself parting with anything more than $10.00 to $30.00 with to own them. Given that most things on my Q are still $60.00 or so in most stores, but only 10-30 in my mind, this was the perfect solution.
The checkout clerk is nothing more than a SMS to my mobile letting me know my B title (by The Germans standards) is on its way! And it never has to brush it's hair out of it's face to see and send itself, nor does it discuss last nights séance with its co-working SMSs going to all my other fellow members. Seeing as I have to inevitably return the game to said Emo-Suicide store of despair, vs. just sticking it in my mailbox, it is a double GOAL for GF.com!!!
Now go on and tell me how BBusterOnline is just the same and you can go to the store to trade in with no late fees etc etc. and I will just bring up how the stores take up to 14 extra days to get a new release in stock! Good times. BBuster is an old dinosaur trying to swim in a digital sea quickly turning itself into a proverbial Tarpit filled with Laserbeam equipped Sharks named Gamefly.
Rants don't have to make grammatical sense right?
