Apple I-touch: Totemo Review

Totemo is a puzzle game for the Apple iPhone/i-pod touch. It was developed by a company called Hexage and contains a story mode and a survival mode.

Graphically this game has those slightly cartoony, yet well done graphics that are right at home on the platform. As you go deeper into the game you'll see that there is a variety of the little guys that you're going to have to remove from the screen.

The music is a bit creepy, I feel like I'm in a B horror movie of some sort. The sounds used for selecting is a series of drum hits which fits right into the game. Finally the main Totem guy is also a bit creepy, but at least he's more than a text bubble.

The controls in this game are really simple select the piece that you're trying to remove. There's nothing really complicated about that. There is one thing though to select multiple things they're going to have to be in the same row or column (they don't have to be touching though). There's also the ability to shake the screen which will reset the current puzzle.

So the story mode of the game has you basically learning all about the different shapes that you'll have to deal with, and it will also tell you about the totems that appear on the left hand side of the screen. If you can successfully clear off the entire screen you can advance to the next level. The survival mode is simply taking what you've learned in the story mode and applying a timer to it.

This is a fun little game that will get your brain working. I don't think that this is a game that you're going to be pouring hours into, but I don't think that that is the type of game that the developer was going for. You can definitely get little snippets of game play and then be good for a bit. This game gets an 8.5 out of 10.
