Street Fighter IV Review

Street Fighter IV, in my mind, is the true sequel to the always popular Street Fighter 2. You will see the old roster of characters ranging from the ever popular Ryu to Vega and M.  Bison. This is the next  generation version of the series with new graphics.

The graphics look smooth, and don't effect the actual flow of the game. Each character has a unique look, and you can see that the size of the character is the size of the hit box (which means the bigger the easier to hit, and visa versa). The levels have motion going on and sometimes there are things that will break in the background but it is never too distracting from the actual game play.

The controls are really what sets this game apart from the rest. Each character has their own types of moves, and most are actually achievable with practice. The combos for your super and ultra move are also achievable with practice. After some practice you'll be able to truly enjoy the game.

The one thing that hinders this game from being the best there could be in the sounds and music. Although the song Indestructible is beyond catchy, the rest is somewhat lacking. I think the worse part of the game is actually the voice-overs. It isn't every day that international bad asses can all sound so American it's mind-boggling.

You're going to have a couple different modes to play around with. You can play arcade, vs, online, and training. Versus is  just your average face off against an opponent in a single match. Online is exactly what it sounds like. Arcade is by far the best of all worlds. Arcade has the option to allow for contenders to join in at any point during your game play. This brings back nostalgic memories of playing in the actual arcade. Now you can always turn that option off and play the game like any other fighting game, but really where is the fun in that?

So in short if you are willing to get by some really bad voice acting, and truly enjoy a good fighter pick this one up. It was just released last week so availability may be slim in some places, but keep at it until you find it. Maybe one day we'll meet online and I can be added as a victory for you, unless of course I have one of my truly lucky streaks. Street Fighter IV gets a 9.2 out of 10
