Trixel Review

Trixel is a puzzle game for the Apple I-pod Touch. You will have a set number of squares (tiles) in a square pattern, and you will have to change the appearance of those tiles (color) to match the example in the left hand corner. Now at first this sounds really easy but as the game progresses different elements are entered and being able to make the playing field match in as little moves possible becomes more difficult.
The graphics aren't going to blow you away but are enough to keep you captivated through the game experience. The advanced options on the tiles (ie Warp, bomb, etc) are easily identifiable.
The music and sounds of this game may want you turning the volume off. Sometimes it's a spacey kind of light trance music, with some strange tweets going on in the background. Other times it has a reggae feel to it. I recommend that you probably find your own music to listen to while playing this game.
The controls are really simple, unless told otherwise you will have the ability to move left, right, up, or down from where cursor is. You won't be able to wrap around the outside of the puzzle, which would have made some of the puzzles a lot easier.
So all this game is about is trying to make the match. The trick is that you're going to want to do it in as few moves as possible. Doing so will give you the gold. There will be crystals that will appear from time to time in the puzzle, you might have to sacrifice your gold, but gaining those will unlock special abilities to help you take back a move, skip a level, etc.
This game isn't going to break the bank at $0.99, and definitely has a degree of challenge and reward that will have you coming back to it. If you're a puzzle game type person and like the old school sliding tile puzzles, then you need to pick up this game. This game gets an 8.1 out of 10.
