World of Tunes Review

World of Tunes, or Tuney, is a music/rhythm game where you're going to be trying to tap on the screen where the blue note guys are appearing to advance through the level. There are several different modes to play around with, but you're basically going to get the same flavor of songs in any of the modes that you choose.
The graphics are cartoony and that's exactly how they should be. There are a couple of cut scenes, which thanks to it being on the i-pod touch you can skim through them. My one problem is that during some songs the indicator of where you're going to be touching the screen flashes up quickly and then disappears or it blends in with something else.
Sounds and music, well you don't have a choice on this one, the music can help you through tough parts where you're not going to be able to easily scan the screen for the next beat. There is some variety in the music, and its more techno than anything, so I've found that I don't mind the music at all.
The controls as stated before are you just tapping the screen. Sometimes you might have to drag your finger across the screen, but most of the game is played by quickly tapping one place and then another.
So depending on the mode you might be going on a small adventure, DJ, free playing, or rocking out hardcore. You're going to be introduced, sometimes through a load screen, sometimes through trial and error, to different forms of complexity that grow as you play along. There are some frustrating moments in the game, and then there are moments where you're going to find yourself breezing through the game. The thing is that you're going to play this game over and over again if this is the game for you. Its fun, the songs aren't really all that long, and you'll come back for more. My only wish is that the boss battles were better done, they seem to be the true weak point in the story part of the game. So if you're willing to drop a little money, $1.99, and you like this type of game, then get it. I give this game an 8.5 out of 10.
