Legends of Zork Review

Legends of Zork, as reported earlier on the site is the return of a long and popular franchise. This time around the Zork game is not text based, and its not really an adventure/puzzle game per say. What this game is is a casual MMO. Now I know what you're thinking, "what the heck is a casual MMO". Well at least for this game its playing a game that only requires the click of the mouse button. If you think you can handle that then you'll be able to jump into a world where you'll be leveling up, gaining unique items, teaming up with other players, exploring the world, and having an all around good time.

This game is played in a web browser so the graphics are what you'd expect. You're not going to have crazy 3D modeling going on in this game. All the enemies and characters are drawn, and have kind of a munchkin feel to them, without the shortness. There is a unique playful look to the images you see, and, if I say so myself, something that I just keep coming back to.

There's no sound to this game, so rock out to whatever music it is that you listen to, and maybe even time your mouse clicks to the rhythm of the music.

The controls as stated before is you clicking on a button. The entire game is like this.

So you will create a character, and then poof you're in the game, you'll go adventuring into leveled areas trying to beat the monsters, puzzles, etc to gain money, and items. The items, when you return to base, will be traded in for more money. You'll have to keep track of what you've got on your person, though, because the store doesn't really tell you what you already have, well sort of. If you've purchased something in the store it will tell you you already own it, but when you are still using the starting weapon, or whatnot, that's not really going to help. You'll get to see different areas, fight different creatures, and discover different spots. When you go up in level you'll be able to gain skill points that can be distributed to make your character more bad ass. The catch, as I mentioned in the announcement post, is that there is some micro-transactions to this game, but fear not, it doesn't really affect you at all. Here's the deal, you have a set amount of moves per day, don't worry if you miss a day they carry over to the next. Once you are out of moves the game is done for the day, unless you drop some cash which you can turn into some more movement points.

This is something that I think any MMOer that might be burnt out, a player not really good at real-time battles, or someone who loves playing games, has to try out. I will admit when I get a chance I'm going nuts in this game, sometimes I get my ass handed to me pretty bad, but it really doesn't hurt too bad, though you do lose all that you gained during your current trek out into the area. Just remember to keep upgrading your armor and your weapons. Even though this game has more than I'll ever true get to I have to give it a score, and in my mind this game deserves a 9.3 out of 10.
