Epic Pet Wars Review

Are you a huge pokemon/tamagotchi fan? Are you looking for a game on the i-pod touch that will allow you to train, raise, and battle a creature of your choosing, and that can also be linked to your Facebook account? If you answered yes to both these questions then this is the game for you. You will have a small selection of pets to choose from and you'll be tasked with training it, making sure its happy, equipping it with weapons, armor, and accessories, you'll also have to make sure it stays healthy, and that you don't run out of money.
The graphics are really simple for this game. Your pet will move around from time to time, but the majority of this game feels like different webpages, there's no real gaming required. The creatures do have an interesting look to them, but if you want the really cool stuff you're going to have to buy the expansions.
There is no music to speak of in this game and there's about 3 or 4 different sounds that you'll hear repeated no matter the screen that you find yourself on.
The controls are simple you tap on the screen to indicate what menu you want up, who you're going to fight, what training you're going to do, what item you're going to use, etc.
So you are going to raise a pet and you're going to be trying to level it up, make money off the battles, which you will in turn use to buy items, weapons, armor, and accessories. As far as I can tell you're going to win most fights that you should win, and you're going to lose a couple close ones. You need to keep an eye on the amount of income you lose at a steady pace. You also need to know that you don't have infinite energy at your disposal to train your pet. You're going to have a little replenished over time. Thankfull energy isn't needed to battle so you can battle as long as you want so that you can level your pet up that way as well as rack in the cash as quickly as possible. I have a huge re-occurring debt for my pet, and so I need to fight fast to get an item that I think will further fortify my pet as a force to be reckoned with.
This game is for those who want to put a lot of time into it. It's like raising a real pet. The problem with this game is that if you want to really make your pet awesome you're going to have to buy the expansion packs, and to be honest they're not always worth it. So it's really you're call on how far you want to plunge into this game. I personally give this game a 6.7 out of 10.
