Star Defense Review

Star Defense for the Apple i-Phone and i-pod touch is a different take on the tower defense games. You'll have a planet with a set path that you'll have to defend from the invading aliens. You'll also have a limited amount of towers that you can place on the path, so choose wisely. Finally you're going to need 3.0 to run this game, so its going to cost you an additional $9.99 if you don't already have it.

The graphics for this game look good, zoomed out it's not the prettiest thing as things get blocky, but when you zoom in the graphics look good. The weapons (towers) all have their own look. It is nice to see what their area of attack is. I feel like I've seen some of the models for the aliens before, but I just can't place them.

The music is a sci-fi light trance music. This is a game that I played a good chunk with the sound off simply because it wasn't necessary to play the game with it on.

The controls are really simple, and they should be being on this specific platform. You're going to be touching the screen and dragging to place towers. You'll tap on a placed tower twice to either sell it or upgrade it. You'll tap on the screen where the next wave information shows up and you can release another wave early.

So as I stated before you're going to be protecting planets. Each planet has a slightly different path that the aliens will have to walk to get to your base. You'll have 10 lives, so try to last as long as you can. You'll have to get through a certain amount of waves before you can unlock the next planet. After that amount of waves you can choose to continue to play the level, and try to last much much longer. As you change worlds you may have a couple extra towers to choose from. There are also achievements that you can unlock by doing certain things within a level.

Overall this game is fun, its addictive, and I really like playing it. My one gripe is that if you accidentally let the game go off, or you have to shut it down real quick while you are going for extra waves, that level is over, there is no resume when you start again. If you're still under the number required you'll be able to start from where you left off. If you are willing to shell out some cash, and maybe a bit extra for 3.0 then you should get this. This game gets a 9.3 out of 10.
