Peggle Review

Peggle from the company PopCap. You might already heard of this game, which has the mantle of one hell of an addictive game attached to it. You'll be going through level upon level trying to hit all the orange pegs before you run out of balls. If you can do that you'll clear the level. There's a lot of luck involved and a little bit of strategy, but if you can get it down you'll get sucked into this game.
Graphically you can see that this game once upon a time resided on the internet, but at the same time that's not a bad thing. Sure the graphics aren't going to blow you away, but each level has a theme and the use of the background and the configuration of the pegs enhance the game.
The majority of the game, I've found, can be played in silence, but there's nothing quite like cranking up the sound when you are about to hit the last orange peg and Ode to Joy starts blaring. I have to say I was skeptical at first, but after the first two times of hearing the song on every stage I demand that I hear it again.
Control wise you're going to be using your finger to aim the cannon, with the wheel on the right side to fine tune your aim. You'll also have the fire button at your disposal to release the ball into the stage. The one issue I have with the controls is that sometimes when you're fine tuning the shot you'll find that you might fat finger the fire button and release the ball earlier than anticipated.
So the name of the game is trying to hit all the orange pegs. Each peg you hit will slowly disappear while your ball is bouncing around, or will immediately disappear if you lose your ball to the bottom of the level. If you can rack up enough points you can get a free ball to add to your arsenal. There's also the chance that the ball bounces in the basket that is moving at the bottom of the level, do that and you get to replay that ball. You'll also run into a wide assortment of power ups that can be activated by hitting a green peg.
I was always under the opinion that I just wouldn't like this game, but that fact couldn't be further from the truth. This game is addictive, and a must have. If you don't already have this game you need to add it to your collection. There are some frustrating parts, and the level can ramp up in difficulty, but if you stick with it you'll either blow a level out of the water or do a happy dance when by some miracle, on your last ball, the last orange peg goes down. This game gets a 9.4 out of 10.
