Civilization Revolution Review

Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution finds its way on to the Apple platform with this port of the game. You will be playing the more basic version of Civilization as you try to win the game through several different means. Although this is a basic version of the Civilization franchise there is still enough to keep you hooked for hours.
Graphically this game sits very well on the Apple platform. The units, cities, and pieces of the map are small, but not too small where the game is almost completely unplayable. The menu systems allow for quick access to all parts of the game, which makes this game all the more immersive.
There's no voice acting in this version, which is understandable, you will get mumbles when something important happens, and sometimes those mumbles have an accent to give you an idea of what nationality is trying to make peace with you, or would like to see you burnt to a crisp.
Control-wise this is yet another touch screen game so you're going to have to select a unit and drag your finger to select its path, or you can select the unit and then select the path option, which is great if you're trying to get your unit to go long distances. The interact with a town you're going to have to tap on the town button. Also if you want to interact with other parts of the game you'll have to tap on their corresponding buttons.
You get to play as one of the great leaders in history, and it is your job to either collect enough significant people (20) to form the UN and win the game, be the first one to launch a ship to Alpha Centuri, or defeat all the opponents. You'll, of course, have to choose your paths in research to unlock stronger units, buildings to enhance your city, Wonders of the World, and more. You'll have to be diplomatic to the other nations, while at the same time building an army just in case the other nations decide to attack.
Overall this game is a great game to have. There are some small issues that I had, though I don't know if it happens to a lot of people. When I was trying to be diplomatic the screen with all the pictures of the leaders would not scrolling through, and when I finally got a leader I accidentally declared war on them, which was fine because I was so far advanced that I blew up their town. Also I think that this is Apple's fault, and 2K's as well for not thinking about this, but I got booted out of the game, I'm pretty sure it had to do with the low battery notification that one gets if they are having way too much fun playing a game that drains said battery.
If you like the building of a nation, and are looking for a slightly quicker game than that of other civilizations, then I recommend getting this game. It's not too pricey either for what you get. So what are you waiting for go ahead and pick this game up. This game gets a 8.7 out of 10.
