Stroke of Midnight Review

Stroke of Midnight is a game for the Apple iPod touch/iPad platform in which you play the role of a struggling author looking for inspiration when she checks out this old mansion. Once there you find that you're in for more than you bargained for. That's when the ghosts start showing up. You'll find that there is quite the twisted love story going on in the house, and you then decide to make it your mission to get to the bottom of it.

Graphically this game looks pretty good for the platform that its on. There's no real movement involved so the system doesn't get taxed. You'll just go from room to room and have to discover the secrets in it. Once you've found the majority of the items to get out of the room you'll have to attempt to play a game of iSpy, in which you'll have to find items hidden in a small area.

There's not much to say about the audio front, it was nice to hear the voice of the character you're playing when you've revealed a secret or another piece to this mystery surrounding this place.

The controls are simply tap the screen to try to pick up an object. In the iSpy parts if you tap on things that aren't listed enough times then the objects you've already found will be added back into the scene.

This isn't too difficult of a game but there's enough here to make it a fun little game. You'll find that once you have a rhythm in the game, the game will go by pretty quickly. There's some issues with certain areas as some of the things you need to find or do aren't abundantly clear.

If you're looking for a quick little mystery game about star-crossed lovers with some puzzle to keep things interesting, then this might be something to look into. It might not be much, but by the end you kind of wish that there was more to the game and perhaps they will make a sequel. This game gets a 6.8 out of 10.
