Knightmare Tower Review

Knightmare Tower is a game created by Juicy Beast for the OUYA. In this game you will be taking on the role of a knight set on rescuing all the princesses locked away in a tower, but it's not going to be that easy, there are no stairs so you're going to have a rocket and momentum to scale the tower, oh and I forgot to mention there seems to be lava filling the tower as you scale, sadly your momentum is going to fluctuate, but the lava will always be constantly on your heels.

Graphically this game looks polished and I have to say the variety of enemies that you'll have to battle through is impressive. The flow of the game has you ascending a wide tower which will have enemies appearing from the bottom of the screen. The developers have color coded the levels to indicate different areas of the game. The importance will really take effect once you're having to battle the final boss.

The controls of the game, are real simple, and once you've mastered them it will be impressive how far you can get in the game. You're going to use basically left and right, and then the A button to thrust your character down.

Now as I just mentioned you're trying to ascend the tower, so why on earth would you want to thrust down, well that's simple, as you hit the enemies swarming below you you'll get a little bit of a boost which will allow you to keep your momentum up. I know it sounds a bit counter intuitive, but you're going to eventually fall and by bouncing off enemies you can correct your direction. As you enter new areas you'll be saving princesses, and by doing that you'll be unlocking new abilities and skills that will be used as you go through the tower on future attempts. You're also going to be collecting coins, as you collect enough you're going to be able to upgrade pieces of your armor, rocket, skills, and potions. The potions are definitely something you're going to want to enhance your game.

I'm just going to say right now if you give this game a little bit of time and buy into upgrading your character and skills you're going to find it very hard to put down the controller. Hell even when you come up against the final boss, even if you do lose a couple of times, or even many times, you're going to want to play it again for that one more chance. This game gets an 8.9 out of 10.
