Behind the Frame Review

Become an artist by working on her final submission to a gallery showing in Behind the Frame. You take on the role of the female artist and will be charged with adding colors to the canvas, but it’s not going to be that easy. Things will be misplaced, and colors will be lost, but have no fear there will be ways to recover what is lost. That part, “recover what is lost”, is the true meaning of the game.

You will play through a series of days and will discover that your art piece keeps suffering from strange occurrences. You will also notice that a lot of your attention will be drawn to your elderly neighbor who turns out is also an artist, although a very grumpy one. As the game progresses you will see that the days have an adverse effect on that neighbor as well.

This was a very soothing game, but at the same time if you really let the story seep into your veins it is a game that will take you on an emotional rollercoaster. There are lighthearted moments and some much heavier moments. There are twists and turns, many of them you’ll probably start to figure out, but at the same time there’s going to be a part of you that hopes that you’re wrong.

I ended up playing through this game in one sitting, it took around 75 minutes. Now, that being said I do want to say that I thought that this was worth every penny I paid. There is a part of me that wishes they fleshed out the ending of the game a little more. I have SOOOOO many questions about what the ending means. At the end of the day this is a beautiful, well crafted game, that was relaxing and surprisingly pulled me in with its story.
